Sharp Stippling

Here is my practice piece for sharp stippling. I didn't have any major struggles with this design, other than I had a tendency to want to go fast. I really had to pay attention to my speed so my stitches didn't get to big, as fore-warned by Leah.  This is a very forgiving design! There were a couple of times that I worked myself into a weird area. To get out, I had to create some, what I thought at the time, were some weird shapes. They didn't seem to match the rest of the design. But now that it is done, I can't find those areas!  I still need to practice, but for a first run, I'm pleased with the design! I don't know why, but it reminds me of falcons.

  1. Nice interlocking of shapes...I struggled with that but agree the design is very forgiving indeed

  2. Such a balanced density to this design. It looks like flames to me. Even stitches too. :) Do you quilt on a domestic machine or a longarm?

  3. Your sharp stippling looks great, I found it easy too, also struggled a bit with my machine speed, but over all I'm happy. Nicely done!!!

  4. Your quilting is wonderful! It sure doesn't look like a practice piece! I'm not done - having a little difficulty doing points after spending almost 4 months trying not to do points! Awesome job! ~Jeanne

  9. Danielle, I love your sharp stippling. I could not get mine to go in different ways, just up and down. I kept trying to make curves, not points. the naked eye cant tell on my project...huh!!! But I can. I definately need more practice. I love yours. did you make something with the design? or was that just a practice material?
