Easter eggs!

 Happy Easter!!

My creatively talented kids decided to toss the Paas aside and go for my Bic permanent markers instead. I think they made some little gem eggs here!

I've been home all week with the kids for spring break. I managed to get one project done and another one almost there. This finished project is one I have had bouncing in my head for a while. It started with this for inspiration.

Love this purse.

So I was thinking, selvegded edges would make a cool redo of this purse. I think I might have enough selvedges to do this. The problem, the more I thought of it was that different fabrics have different widths of selvedges(which could look sloppy). If I had enough of the same size, it could look good. But I don't. So I can't let and idea go to waste. So here is what I did instead.

I painstakingly made all of the fringe. It wasn't really that bad. I just made WOF strips and I got about 8 pieces of fringe out of each. But It did take quite a bit of fabric. There is 2 full yards on the exterior fabric/fringe alone! I only had a little piece left!

I cut each strip 2 inches and double folded ending up with a half inch strip. I did an experiment and tried a one inch cut strip that would give  1/4 inchstrip, but decided I was to impatient for that(although I would look great)I fray checked all the ends so not to unravel on me:)

What do you think? To much? I'm kinda liking how it turned out. I'm just scared I will get it dirty if I use it, haha. (kinda defeats the purpose)

I am really on a bag roll lately. I hope to get back to making some quilts soon, but for now, I have a few more bags to make. Well, I better, at least, since I already bought supplies.

Have a great Easter!!!

Fraternal Quilts Done...Almost

I got Baby B's quilt done today!!!

Front of Baby B Quilt. I love the rounded edges! So easy. I think I will do this for all baby quilts from now on!! I wish I would have had the forethought to round Baby A's quilt.

Back of Baby B Quilt. This quilting pattern can be found here.
It's Elizabeth's Hartman's Crazy Nine Patch Lattice (free) pattern.

Here is the quilting. Sorry it didn't show up in photos very well. It's a wonky circuit board variation. I kept the quilting big to ensure softness. It's about a 2" scale.

In case you missed it, here is my baby A quilt.

Just your easy-peasy-quick-show of your pretty prints-brick quilt. I kept the quilting just as easy with a simple stipple on about a 1 1/2-2" scale.

These quilts are very different for twins. My sister-in-law is having fraternal twins, so I think it's fine. I get bored easily, so making identical quilts is not my thing! I posted them on FB so I wonder how long it will be until she see them??? She is not having a baby shower since this is kid 3 & 4 for her. So, there is no need for secrecy. But, she didn't know:)

All that is left is to label these and give them to her. She is scheduled for a c-section May 20, so I got done in plenty of time!!

Petrillo Bag Tested & Approved ;)

Sara of Sew Sweetness has a new bag pattern out today, the Petrillo Bag. This is my version. I had the opportunity to test one of her patterns. It turned out sooooo pretty, if I do say so;) Go check out her pattern shop. She has some amazing purse/bag patterns for sale. And now I know why her (blog)name is Sew Sweetness.............because, she is!

3 WIP's

So I got baby quilt number 2 basted quilted and squared up! I was going to use this DS print for the binding:

But I decided "nah" it didn't look good. So I'm going for this print.

This little hounds tooth print should pop. But I had to make a trip back to Joann's to get it. then Walmart where I picked up Breaking Dawn part 2. Needless to say, I didn't get much sewing done after I got home :O

As you can see in this photo, I quilted pretty far apart to give the quilt baby softness:) Please don't look at how old my hands look. :/ Winter air does a tole on them + I a working girl......not that kind of working girl.....just good ole' fashioned working with my hands hard labor kinda work;)

I'm thinking about rounding out the corners on this quilt. I wish I would have on baby quilt #1. I was thinking the rounded corners would be better for a baby.

Sooooo, now I thought I should finally show you my sewing space. It's not glamorous by any means. It IS a WIP.  Please beware. It's a combo sewing/laundry room. K?

I warned you..lol. It looks like it is throwing up fabric and laundry right now. I call it creative chaos. I tidy it up quite often, but somehow it always looks like this. But it's mine. No more clearing the kitchen table. :) The exposed walls is where the shower used to be. Believe it or not, there used to be another full bathroom in here( a room within a room). We had to tear it out when all of the joists started popping. We later found out that the dryer vent had come undone under the floor causing so much moisture, it rotted them. the crawl space is so small, no one could access it. We never fully fixed this area. So here it sat. Raw floors, insulation showing, I couldn't bare to show you the ceiling (embarrasment). But I'm grateful for it. And my husband has the perfect excuse to not fix it. He says I'm always using it :):):)

I have a new color I'm in love with for 2013...or at least right now. I love these minty greens! I don't know if it's spring around the corner, or March or what. My favorite colors change quite often, but this is it for now! I have some non-quilty ideas for this fabric. As soon as baby quilt 2 is done. I can hardly wait! It's tempting to dive in to it right now.  I will call this a WIP, too because I have washed it and not put it away!!But all I have is binding left!

That's all I have for now! I'm linking up with Marelize at Stitch by Stitch, Monday.
