But I decided "nah" it didn't look good. So I'm going for this print.
This little hounds tooth print should pop. But I had to make a trip back to Joann's to get it. then Walmart where I picked up Breaking Dawn part 2. Needless to say, I didn't get much sewing done after I got home :O
As you can see in this photo, I quilted pretty far apart to give the quilt baby softness:) Please don't look at how old my hands look. :/ Winter air does a tole on them + I a working girl......not that kind of working girl.....just good ole' fashioned working with my hands hard labor kinda work;)
I'm thinking about rounding out the corners on this quilt. I wish I would have on baby quilt #1. I was thinking the rounded corners would be better for a baby.
Sooooo, now I thought I should finally show you my sewing space. It's not glamorous by any means. It IS a WIP. Please beware. It's a combo sewing/laundry room. K?
I warned you..lol. It looks like it is throwing up fabric and laundry right now. I call it creative chaos. I tidy it up quite often, but somehow it always looks like this. But it's mine. No more clearing the kitchen table. :) The exposed walls is where the shower used to be. Believe it or not, there used to be another full bathroom in here( a room within a room). We had to tear it out when all of the joists started popping. We later found out that the dryer vent had come undone under the floor causing so much moisture, it rotted them. the crawl space is so small, no one could access it. We never fully fixed this area. So here it sat. Raw floors, insulation showing, I couldn't bare to show you the ceiling (embarrasment). But I'm grateful for it. And my husband has the perfect excuse to not fix it. He says I'm always using it :):):)
I have a new color I'm in love with for 2013...or at least right now. I love these minty greens! I don't know if it's spring around the corner, or March or what. My favorite colors change quite often, but this is it for now! I have some non-quilty ideas for this fabric. As soon as baby quilt 2 is done. I can hardly wait! It's tempting to dive in to it right now. I will call this a WIP, too because I have washed it and not put it away!!But all I have is binding left!
That's all I have for now! I'm linking up with Marelize at Stitch by Stitch, Monday.
Danielle
The hounds tooth will look wonderful on the baby quilt. Your sewing room looks so much bigger than I had for the first 25 years in this house - I had to wait for kids to grow up and move out to get real sewing space! Love the minty green fabric - looks like spring! I like to think about spring - we have another winter storm moving towards us... ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI have been sewing for 21 years. It was just last year that I thought, you know what? All that is in this room is laundry and storage(aka clutter). So I decided to make it work for my sewing space! It had allowed me to be more productive sewing! It's sort of a retreat. It's a messy retreat, but still a retreat! It's cooooold here today, but spring is around the corner! The trees are budding;)
DeleteGreat baby quilt! I have a sewing room since moving house....let me tell you the more space you have the more mess there is. At least when I used the kitchen table I had to clear it all away. Now I just leave things on every available surface and the WIPs are on the floor...constantly cleaning up. I've come to think it does not matter how much space you have available. All part of the creative process.
ReplyDeleteWe are going into autumn here...can't wait for the colder weather...bit over the heat here
haha! I believe that! More room more mess! Some stuff, I just don't know what to do with! Spring break at the school I work at is coming soon and Im going to have a whole week to work on the space. I'm going to pitch some stuff!!

Awe thanks! I was a little apprehensive to show it. I see so may great sewing rooms on the blogs. But I feel blessed to have it!
DeleteThanks for sharing your sewing space, Danielle. I love to see a happy place. We do what we can with what we got.... I am quilting in a hallway! By the way, I love your choice for the binding and agree it will look awesome! Looking forward to seeing it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it even in all the messiness. If I could stop sewing for a bit, I might be able to improve the space. Trouble is, I have sewing ideas backed up in my head...if that makes sense.
DeleteJust so you know you are showing up a no reply blogger when you entered our contest. I thought you might want to know.
ReplyDeleteok thanks!!
