I've been looking forward to the Bloggers Quilt Festival because I have a special finish for the year of 2016. My very first donation quilt! We will talk about all the blah blah blah's in a minute so without further ado, here is </div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1StP2hFQU6s/V-CpFSZrbzI/AAAAAAAAFEQ/q0YqvRN8BtUK-bk0eFXVTc0PwCyOKRUSACLcB/s1600/IMG_5661.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1StP2hFQU6s/V-CpFSZrbzI/AAAAAAAAFEQ/q0YqvRN8BtUK-bk0eFXVTc0PwCyOKRUSACLcB/s320/IMG_5661.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption">BARN STARS<br />
<br />
OK, now for the blah blah blah's. Back in 1985, I graduated from St. Benedicts. I attended 7 schools in my life and this was the school of friends I bonded with and will never forget. I can run in to a classmate and it's like we never left. Well I ran into one one day and we decided to have a class reunion. We got 6 other people on board to help and now we are planning a reunion for 2017! Problem is, we have no money for a budget to plan.<br />
<br />
I decided to make a quilt to raffle off to make some cash for the event. We thought we would be able to enter it into the St. Ben's summer social and give half of the proceeds to the school, and keep half for our reunion. Well, it didn't quite work out like we thought. Father explained that the money for the social goes toward tuition costs for less fortunate students. He didn't want to set a precedence. Although we completely understand, it was a little disheartening.<br />
<br />
I still want to find a way to raffle this off to raise funds for our reunion, but I'm afraid I don't know where to start. I know legalities are involved with permits and such, so it's a little daunting. Suggestions would be appreciated!<br />
<br />
This quilt started with the fabric and sort of evolved. I had no pattern or direction and just kind of went with what came to me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vILOz6mIsaY/V-Ctr_9_XEI/AAAAAAAAFFE/6R7Lr-TEeCEseFIQDX1Pl5bNHYrJ914jgCEw/s1600/IMG_5681.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vILOz6mIsaY/V-Ctr_9_XEI/AAAAAAAAFFE/6R7Lr-TEeCEseFIQDX1Pl5bNHYrJ914jgCEw/s320/IMG_5681.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Close up of the quilting, zippling.<br />
<br />
I bought all solid fabric at first but even that decision quickly changed. I originally was going to make one big star. My goal was to make it super big, super fast! I can never keep things that simple. It went from one star to 4. then while making the stars I wanted arrows on the top and bottom. I knew I did NOT want a border. I really wanted to keep everything floating.<br />
<br />
The whole thing measures about 70 x 98. Hmmmm, I may have to tweek it if I ever make a pattern. Not exactly standard. I know my long legged friends would love it, though;)<br />
<br />
The back was an evolution of left-overs. I always seem to have left-overs. I think the back deserves a little personality too. Don't you?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ho33VRcDpBo/V-CyDfzOVnI/AAAAAAAAFFE/yeDsuAbSq2Q2wchImBnrx_hn3tp14gCaACEw/s1600/IMG_5729.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ho33VRcDpBo/V-CyDfzOVnI/AAAAAAAAFFE/yeDsuAbSq2Q2wchImBnrx_hn3tp14gCaACEw/s320/IMG_5729.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z4F5EU0uPQ8/V-CyxBeRCtI/AAAAAAAAFFE/YtGzmJj2gN4rLj4d5Tkza6sYMIZmMpXlACEw/s1600/IMG_5733.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z4F5EU0uPQ8/V-CyxBeRCtI/AAAAAAAAFFE/YtGzmJj2gN4rLj4d5Tkza6sYMIZmMpXlACEw/s320/IMG_5733.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
With the quilt label, I added some ravens to represent our school mascot<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Uu45oBfgZg4/V-C1RI4Da3I/AAAAAAAAFFE/NUAjvx9cvYUOrT_sOgmWN-bhnRZW3xDpACEw/s1600/IMG_5707.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Uu45oBfgZg4/V-C1RI4Da3I/AAAAAAAAFFE/NUAjvx9cvYUOrT_sOgmWN-bhnRZW3xDpACEw/s320/IMG_5707.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And no quilt photo shoot of mine would be complete without my little Zoey</div>

My free time seems to be non-existent. Work, clean, fix dinner, clean, laundry=mental exhaustion. I think I need a class on how to better manage my time.<br />
<br />
To be fair, there has been nothing I felt like blogging about last year. My free time was taken up by a quilt. A quilt I didn't want to do. An unsatisfying quilt(to me).<br />
<br />
You see, back at the end of 2014, My aunt purchased an Amish quilt top. She asked me to put it together for her. I don't enjoy doing this type of work, but after much persuasion and negotiation, I agreed.<br />
<br />
I don't like to work that way. It's not enjoyable for me to finish someones work. But, she's family. A bit easier for me to back down on my firm NO!<br />
<br />
To make matters worse, my sister was pregnant and begged me to make her an entire layette about 1.5 months before her daughter was born. So right when I finally get some momentum going on the Amish quilt, I had to stop and work on baby things because the baby was coming soon. Guess what? I STILL need to make a bed skirt and a baby quilt :O. But I had to stop that project because, well, she was born, and my aunt was becoming impatient.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eN2K-tEH0EQ/VsC7GavIivI/AAAAAAAAFA0/wWxPrpdo07c/s1600/IMG_7556.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eN2K-tEH0EQ/VsC7GavIivI/AAAAAAAAFA0/wWxPrpdo07c/s320/IMG_7556.jpg" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My sister and niece</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sdByveC5sB0/VsC7cjnka9I/AAAAAAAAFA8/kX6mQPmPz_U/s1600/IMG_7551.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sdByveC5sB0/VsC7cjnka9I/AAAAAAAAFA8/kX6mQPmPz_U/s320/IMG_7551.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Cb3D6Ybo9J4/VsC7l4D13HI/AAAAAAAAFBE/NzUhSFLxLp0/s1600/IMG_7364.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Cb3D6Ybo9J4/VsC7l4D13HI/AAAAAAAAFBE/NzUhSFLxLp0/s320/IMG_7364.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">this window cushion was a challenge and took FOREVER!!! getting the foam in was even worse. I ripped the cushion the first time because it was a tight fit, as it should be. After a little googling, and repair, I found the proper way. but the foam in a plastic bag and vacuum the air out. Put it in the cushion (quickly). then rip the bag off. It's a little cumbersome, but doable. It was hard to find a bag the right size.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Then my niece was born with a heart defect and went into congestive heart failure. She is soing fine and thriving finally after surgery to repair the holes in her heart. That put things on hold as well. We were all so scared!<br />
<br />
Well, I FINALLY got the king size Amish quilt top FINISHED!!!!!! YAY!!! Huge burden lifted!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Amish quilt</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So now I can get back to doing me. I have learned to say NOOOO!!!!!!!! It really is a matter of my own stress levels.<br />
<br />
To bring you to current events, I'm making a quilt for my daughter's room that we are planning to re do. I will blog about that later. Yesterday I made my first public appearance!! I was asked by a colleague to take part of an around the world folk art bazaar for charity at one of the elementary schools at the school corporation I work for. It was my first public appearance :)<br />
<br />
I did a quilting demo for free motion quilting and had some of my quilts on display. It was fun to see little ones, both girls AND boys interested in what I was doing. I wish I had gotten some pictures, especially of this one little girl who already had her own sewing machine! LOVE TO HEAR THAT!!!!!<br />

<br /></div>
I met the sweetest, most intersting foreign exchange student from Slovakia. Her name is Erika. She is 18 years old and she was demonstrating "Mal'ovanie Voskom" which basicall means, painting with wax.She melted crayons and painted designs on eggs. She learned this technique when she was 8 years old when she joined a creative club after school.She makes them every year before Easter.She is a kindred spirit in that she has a broad range of creative interests(like me) including sewing!I was so nervous to do this event, but meeting new people and seeing the little ones take interest made it all worth it!<br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

I made the same bag as my last entry. It's my second attempt using the pattern I drafted myself, based on the Lizzy Bag by Vera Bradley. It's a little bigger than the Lizzy, and I again added a turn lock (this time a heart). I LOOOOOOVE how it turned out:)<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
As you can see we had a few laughs, as we always do;) She admitted to me that she wasn't crazy about the fabric when I started. But she said "I like it! If whoever that is for is stupid enough to not like it, I'll take it." That makes a mom feel good. She knows this one is not for her. She already picked out her fabric. Hers is coming. Hopefully I can crank out a few more(and hers of course) before Christmas!</div>

I love this pocket! I think it's why I'm not getting board of making these:) Plus it's always fun to see how each fabric pattern will look. I have to admit, though, I got to know my seam ripper a little better with this one. I had sewn in magenta zippers. The color was way to off. </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm having so much fun making this one. I'm highly considering making a pattern to sell, but it scares me to death if I'm going to be honest. I really don't know where to start :O I have made the bag 2 times and the pattern pieces seem to work, and I'm sure I could write instructions, but putting it in digital form is an enigma to me. Anyone willing to point me in the right direction would be appreciated! Oh ya, and if the name sucks (The Smiley Bag) I need ideas because that is as good as I could come up with. My friend suggested The Dani bag. It has a nice ring to it, lol!!</div>

There are many reasons. I've been pretty busy, but mainly, I just needed a break. I think it's because I dive in and just....don't stop. But the itch to get back has been there. I just needed a push. I couldn't resist <a href="http://sewsweetness.com/2014/10/purse-palooza-2014.html">Purse Palooza 2014</a> hosted by <a href="http://sewsweetness.com/">Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness</a>!<br />
<br />
So here is my 2014 entry.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I recently purchased the <a href="http://www.verabradley.com/product/lizzy/provencal/1001150_176749.uts?fromSearch=1">Lizzy Bag by Vera Bradley</a>. It's a smart little cross body bag with a handy slip pocket and flap pocket(2 pockets in one) on the front. i just loved the look. I don't know if they are discontinuing it, but there are no new patterns on the website. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I normally don't go for such a small bag, but there are times I just don't want to carry all my crap that I usually feel the need to haul around, such as a fair, or shopping.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w574p6eC6c0/VEyEqhCNmGI/AAAAAAAAE6s/NaqVJnkyLGw/s1600/IMG_6405.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w574p6eC6c0/VEyEqhCNmGI/AAAAAAAAE6s/NaqVJnkyLGw/s1600/IMG_6405.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
front slip/flap pocket</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My bag is a wee bit bigger then the original Lizzy measuring 9X8. The pockets are made just a tad bigger as well to accommodate my IPhone 5. My phone will slide easily all the way down the slip pocket, or the flap pocket-even with my Otter box on.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L3a2F-q7Zq0/VEyF37MC9KI/AAAAAAAAE64/2uJaaEKBXC0/s1600/IMG_6402.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L3a2F-q7Zq0/VEyF37MC9KI/AAAAAAAAE64/2uJaaEKBXC0/s1600/IMG_6402.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
hardware and piping detail</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I changed the flap opting for this cute little turn lock I got from <a href="http://www.emmalinebags.com/">Janelle Mackay at Emmaline Bags</a>. I LOVE HER HARDWARE! I think the right hardware really sets a handmade bag apart.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bH-drCtGsnI/VEyHHdcSG9I/AAAAAAAAE7E/egYPOg46Iuc/s1600/IMG_6412.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bH-drCtGsnI/VEyHHdcSG9I/AAAAAAAAE7E/egYPOg46Iuc/s1600/IMG_6412.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
interior pockets</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I added the interior pockets. The zipper pocket on the back of the bag had credit card slots which I didn't bother to add. My decision for this was mainly because I was getting impatient to get it done! I have been working out this bag all week! I had to draft my own pattern(still learning that skill) and work out a few mistakes. Oh, and a couple of trips BACK to the fabric store to get more fabric. I quilted it using Soft and Stable for the batting. I have to say-WOW, I love how it quilted up! You do have to pull the fabric taught as you are quilting to avoid unsightly ripples. I was quilting on the bias, so I learned quick, pull it VERY taught. But no bigger then the piece I was quilting, it wasn't a problem. The payoff is great, though. The bag keeps its shape soooooooo well! It's very structured!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I so love this bag and now I have my first order for it- from my daughter, Ashley! She has already picked out her fabric which I already knew would be <a href="http://www.fabricworm.com/vicrwapahasq.html">Waterfront Park half square triangle</a>. She has been eyeballing that fabric in my stash for a while:)<br />
<br />
My only question is what to call it? Is it proper to give it a name since I basically ripped off the design from Vera? I don't feel bad about making it. You learn a lot about bag making by looking at and making a designer bag. But I'm at a loss as to what to call this entry. Any thoughts?</div>

I finished my Splendid Ovum(EGG) Quilt a week later than I had hoped. I was shooting for Easter, but better late then never!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lOhC4p4_yvk/U3mGzQVBAxI/AAAAAAAAE4M/F1x7nQ5DmOQ/s1600/photo+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lOhC4p4_yvk/U3mGzQVBAxI/AAAAAAAAE4M/F1x7nQ5DmOQ/s1600/photo+2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Here are my two helpers for a quick snapshot. Drew was more interested in photo bombing then keeping the quilt straight.<br />
<br />
The quilt measures 68X77. The biggest quilt i have made yet. And even with all of the negative space, it took me longer then I expected! I think I worked on it religiously for 2 months! All of those eggs were quite time consuming!<br />
<br />
When I finally got-er-done,me and my husband had a serious conversation. It went something like this:<br />
<br />
hubby: Is that quilt for me?<br />
me: Do you want it?<br />
hubby: Did you make it for someone?<br />
me: No, nobody is getting this quilt, but I was going to enter it in a quilt show.<br />
hubby: That's fine, I'll take it after that.<br />
<br />
Well, that made me feel awesome! Haha! I think it may have had something to do with the fact that it's the biggest quilt I've made and the backing fabric I chose (Philip Jacobs-Foxglove) is soft as butter! He loved the weight of the quilt! It also made me feel a little guilty. I have been meaning to make him a quilt, but the right one hasn't hit me yet. Little does he know, I have fabric put back for him:) It's OK, he deserves 2 quilts!<br />

I'm eggstatic how my eggs have turned out! Each one took sooooo much longer than I thought it would, but I think it has been worth it! I'm hoping this quilt will have a modern twist and not end up.....cheezy;)<br />
<br />
I plan on getting my eggs together soon. I have to wait until next week to order my quilt backing fabric(which I have picked out). But that is ok,it will give me time to figure out how to quilt it. My goal is to have it done by easter! Check back soon! I have been doing regular updates on my FB page if you want to follow<a href="https://www.facebook.com/danielle.b.hudson.3"> HERE</a>. Maybe one day I will update my blog and put all of the fancy buttons on it :/ I will be posting again soon, I hope:)Danih03http://www.blogger.com/profile/06038011201802847978noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6608589772277647811.post-26824753350751242182014-03-11T14:59:00.002-07:002014-03-11T14:59:43.411-07:00Easter Egg quilt<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I'm not usually in to themed quilts, especially holiday themes, but this one I just couldn't get out of my head. I am really excited to making this quilt and have high hopes that it turns out as beautiful as I have imagined.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This is my first completed egg. I'm loving the look! If you are wondering how I sewed this egg shape, check out <a href="http://www.hgtv.com/video/easy-circle-quilt-blocks-video/index.html">THIS</a> video. The piecing is small, so it's taking a bit of time. I have 5 more pieced pieces ready to make eggs. My plan is to make at least a dozen eggs, but plans for a quilt usually change before completion, so we will see:)<br />
<br />
I will be posting more eggs soon so check back!Danih03http://www.blogger.com/profile/06038011201802847978noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6608589772277647811.post-41067803031722166132014-01-26T20:01:00.000-08:002014-01-26T20:01:03.298-08:00Zoey's bed for RB/MQG Challenge<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
I finally finished my entry for <a href="http://themodernquiltguild.wordpress.com/2013/08/16/the-basics-challenge-with-riley-blake-designs/">The Basics Challenge with Riley Blake Designs</a> for the 3rd annual MQG members fabric challenge.<br />
<br />
I decided to make my little doggie, Zoey her own little bed so she can hang out with me in the sewing room.<br />
<br />
I only used the yellow polka dots of the fat eighth quarters that were sent to me. I initially had an entirely different design in mind at the beginning of this challenge. I ended up taking a whole different approach. I think I was really inspired by Elizabeth Hartman's <a href="http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2013/06/dancing-queen-quilt-block-tutorial.html">Dancing Queen</a> quilt. The Dancing Queen quilt is the last quilt I made as a Christmas quilt for my Dad. I just expanded it a bit to make a brick wall.<br />
<br />
I used exclusively Riley Blake polka dots for my print selections, and grey for the mortar. For the quilting I really wanted some graffiti. I have always loved graffiti art. I don't condone vandalism, but graffiti has it's own beauty.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sNoCCVyrcw4/UuXR5jxy-FI/AAAAAAAAE0Q/32CvqYVu_as/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sNoCCVyrcw4/UuXR5jxy-FI/AAAAAAAAE0Q/32CvqYVu_as/s1600/photo+4.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started out using some grey thread. Then I thought this was way to safe. Not very exciting. So ripping commenced. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uHIFgwRmxpY/UuXR7fLCNzI/AAAAAAAAE1E/bikr0e6LYig/s1600/photo6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uHIFgwRmxpY/UuXR7fLCNzI/AAAAAAAAE1E/bikr0e6LYig/s1600/photo6.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
YES! Much better. Way more exciting!!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DfjGPqOTckw/UuXR40j_2OI/AAAAAAAAE0A/SNuvhhFO5Po/s1600/photo+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DfjGPqOTckw/UuXR40j_2OI/AAAAAAAAE0A/SNuvhhFO5Po/s1600/photo+11.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The rest of the background I did an all over circuit board design. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GKPyhtpzIbo/UuXR64_KH2I/AAAAAAAAE0w/iQOYe1kCTYI/s1600/photo5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GKPyhtpzIbo/UuXR64_KH2I/AAAAAAAAE0w/iQOYe1kCTYI/s1600/photo5.JPG" height="260" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To gauge this micro-quilting, the mortar finished pieces are 1/2 an inch. That's some tiny quilting. My hands cramped up more than once:/</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I guess I should show my little mishap.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Yafk5pxhD8w/UuXR5-gMUMI/AAAAAAAAE04/6OKHtlhwBzU/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Yafk5pxhD8w/UuXR5-gMUMI/AAAAAAAAE04/6OKHtlhwBzU/s1600/photo+5.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the other side that I had a mishap marking my quilt! This is permanent marker! I managed to get most of it out but for some reason, what was on the red would not budge. Here is my solution....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5JvI-VFmqEc/UuXR43-zboI/AAAAAAAAE0I/yvQeRmt0xpo/s1600/photo+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5JvI-VFmqEc/UuXR43-zboI/AAAAAAAAE0I/yvQeRmt0xpo/s1600/photo+12.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I stuck my quilt label over the top of the mistake like a bumper sticker:) I'm really liking the offset of the label! And Zoey prefers to get comfy on this side of the dog bed more than the pretty side which is a little stiff due to all the dense micro-quilting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QWW78Bjkexg/UuXR5jLlyjI/AAAAAAAAE0Y/YNDDMVOfKxA/s1600/photo+16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QWW78Bjkexg/UuXR5jLlyjI/AAAAAAAAE0Y/YNDDMVOfKxA/s1600/photo+16.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yaaaaaa, I think she likes it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Project completed! Now..........what to do next?!?!?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RCcmMVtykf8/UuXR7n7iCgI/AAAAAAAAE1A/mNIpv3Dx_nI/s1600/photo8.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RCcmMVtykf8/UuXR7n7iCgI/AAAAAAAAE1A/mNIpv3Dx_nI/s1600/photo8.JPG" height="226" width="320" /></a></div>

I made it for my dad for Christmas.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wish I would have gotten a picture of when he unfolded it, but sometimes we get caught up in the moment. I'm pretty sure he liked it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WT3cKWEITCU/UrvRdo9LJcI/AAAAAAAAEy0/cg1DXDXmERc/s1600/photo+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WT3cKWEITCU/UrvRdo9LJcI/AAAAAAAAEy0/cg1DXDXmERc/s320/photo+2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my version ofElizabeth Hartman's <a href="http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2013/06/dancing-queen-quilt-block-tutorial.html">Dancing Queen</a> quilt.I added a row on the length and width making the finished size 74in.X78in. I think it's the biggest quilt I have yet to make. To me, it was a monster to make. Each block took me 2 hrs. I made 22 blocks. The quilting didn't go quite as bad as I expected. I finished that in about 12 hours. Add in all the cutting, and piecing the blocks, squaring, etc....well, I lost count of the hours, but you all know where I'm coming from:)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r4dRws7tiy0/UrvRefqpr1I/AAAAAAAAEzE/OBDOperJpOY/s1600/photo+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r4dRws7tiy0/UrvRefqpr1I/AAAAAAAAEzE/OBDOperJpOY/s320/photo+5.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's kind of hard to see but I did an all over circuit board quilting keeping it 1-2 inches apart. I wanted a snuggly quilt. Dense quilting is so pretty, but not really snuggly in my opinion.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I loved how it turned out! It's a great quilt to finish the year out with!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope all of you had a GREAT CHRISTMAS!! I know I did;)</div>

I just finished a night time photo shoot, so my photos were the best I could do under the circumstances.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kDcMxQ2SxXg/UqvJjBymGFI/AAAAAAAAEx8/bd67G2zYJ9Y/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></div>
Here's the front. I found this "Ray" fabric by French Bull a few months back at my LQS. It was one of those buys like, I don't know what I'm going to make with this, I just have to have it!<br />
<br />
My mother-in-law has been hounding me to make her a diaper bag for a few months now. She watches my twin nieces all the time and wanted her own diaper bag. She somehow has it in her head that it is cheaper to make one than buy one. Well, it is when the maker BUYS ALL THE SUPPLIES, LOLOL! ( It's gonna be a Christmas present so it's totally worth it;)When I saw this contest, I knew the fabric would look GREAT with the Aragon Bag and enter the contest thereby killing 3 birds with one stone!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--yqcEvI0-mw/UqvJkLmXz8I/AAAAAAAAEyY/8dFkD8xOS98/s1600/photo+51.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--yqcEvI0-mw/UqvJkLmXz8I/AAAAAAAAEyY/8dFkD8xOS98/s320/photo+51.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is the back of the bag.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mixKbF6ZMzs/UqvJjyT4MfI/AAAAAAAAEyc/0JMsJubdkqg/s1600/photo+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mixKbF6ZMzs/UqvJjyT4MfI/AAAAAAAAEyc/0JMsJubdkqg/s320/photo+5.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Here is the inside. I totally LOVE all of the pockets!<br />
<br />
I stayed pretty true to the pattern other that adding a few of my own touches.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XoRc7qY8BG4/UqvJjAmdcCI/AAAAAAAAEyM/y2JDDY0WUDk/s1600/photo+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XoRc7qY8BG4/UqvJjAmdcCI/AAAAAAAAEyM/y2JDDY0WUDk/s320/photo+3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I added piping and accent fabric at the top of the outer side pockets. I think it makes the bag look so electric!<br />
<br />
I have to say I LOVE this bag and I know my MIL will too! It took me many many hours to complete, but so worth it! I read one of the testers completed one in 7 hours! Ummmm.........not gonna happen here;) I guess I'm a slow sewer!<br />
<br />
I really love Sara's bag patterns and the next one I do will be from her book Big City Bags, the Fireside Bowl Bag! LOVE IT!Danih03http://www.blogger.com/profile/06038011201802847978noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6608589772277647811.post-9946539334729371352013-12-04T21:06:00.002-08:002013-12-04T21:06:45.303-08:00Some loot and a baby quilt<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I've been a little blog lazy lately, but not because I'm not getting things done! With Christmas quickly approaching, I have a more than a few projects in the works. As usual, I'm probably biting off more than I can chew.<br />
<br />
I made this little quilt for a work friend who is expecting her first baby a few weeks back. I needed to get it done fast. I saw <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/104694561/graphic-modern-baby-quilt-pop?ref=sc_4&sref=">this quilt</a> on pintrest and thought it would be a cute quick quilt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DrC-0WPtoM0/Up_1_XyUADI/AAAAAAAAExo/4quznbqOKg0/s1600/photo+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DrC-0WPtoM0/Up_1_XyUADI/AAAAAAAAExo/4quznbqOKg0/s320/photo+1.jpg" width="313" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I changed the arrangement for the back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vs5kRXMZ4sg/Up_10ZV1OAI/AAAAAAAAExY/aezNLq91Fzg/s1600/photo+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vs5kRXMZ4sg/Up_10ZV1OAI/AAAAAAAAExY/aezNLq91Fzg/s320/photo+2.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
I did some super quick loop-de-loop quilting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7B6QqVu3TmM/Up_10OaeQZI/AAAAAAAAExQ/uYlEaPCZ5kg/s1600/photo+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7B6QqVu3TmM/Up_10OaeQZI/AAAAAAAAExQ/uYlEaPCZ5kg/s320/photo+4.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
She LOVED it! It turned out so light and cuddly!!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is some loot that came in the mail today! It's my winnings for the Purse Palooza 2013!!!!YAY! I have to give a BIG THANK YOU to Sara Lawson, Kay Whitt and Pat Bravo!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vEPMgREaxpg/Up_10y227DI/AAAAAAAAExc/27Y3JWS0-Ro/s1600/photo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vEPMgREaxpg/Up_10y227DI/AAAAAAAAExc/27Y3JWS0-Ro/s320/photo1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I'm keeping it short and sweet today. I have a monster quilt i FINALLY got pieced and basted that is screaming to get done!<br />
<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OKq68BeE-v8/UnHUswmhrpI/AAAAAAAAEvU/ns84cjC786g/s1600/photo+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OKq68BeE-v8/UnHUswmhrpI/AAAAAAAAEvU/ns84cjC786g/s320/photo+1.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the second prototype of my Bulldog bag. You can see my first version <a href="http://freshoffthespool-danih03.blogspot.com/2013/10/purse-palooza-2013.html">here</a>. My friend/coworker, Kelly is modeling the bag for me. I asked her to model it for me because this girl has STYLE! I think my bag looks great on her and she makes my bag look great;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ulbJb-dVvxA/UnHUskp71HI/AAAAAAAAEvQ/xFYOLFcLqHA/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ulbJb-dVvxA/UnHUskp71HI/AAAAAAAAEvQ/xFYOLFcLqHA/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QBZsKXmGynw/UnHUsibb1SI/AAAAAAAAEvM/B8QUK9ESmso/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QBZsKXmGynw/UnHUsibb1SI/AAAAAAAAEvM/B8QUK9ESmso/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I quilted it this time. I used quilting weight cotton so I wanted to experiment to get a good weight to the bag. As I was quilting the pieces, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I almost scrapped it before I ever finished, but I'm glad I didn't! I love how it turned out!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uD13dNv3nXs/UnHUtDC1jMI/AAAAAAAAEvc/AV-ptVwZzHk/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uD13dNv3nXs/UnHUtDC1jMI/AAAAAAAAEvc/AV-ptVwZzHk/s320/photo+5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IAhpfFBOBmE/UnHU0eaeYtI/AAAAAAAAEvs/DA0m6xvNCNQ/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IAhpfFBOBmE/UnHU0eaeYtI/AAAAAAAAEvs/DA0m6xvNCNQ/s320/photo.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I really LOVE this bag! I made it a tad bigger then the last one. A bigger bag is better for me! I also did a tutorial for the twisted handle, so if you want to give it a try, check it out <a href="http://freshoffthespool-danih03.blogspot.com/2013/10/twisted-cord-purse-handle-tutorial.html">HERE</a>!<br />

You are going to need about 3 yards of 12/32 upholstery cording. You can get this at Joann's and Hobby Lobby. Also, you need to cut 2 a 45" pieces of fabric on the bias. I cut mine 2and 1/8 inches.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cut your 3 yards of cording in half. Make sure to tape the raw ends. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Oai5Q9GQczI/UnHFqEZyRyI/AAAAAAAAEsI/c3XCm2MiSVo/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Oai5Q9GQczI/UnHFqEZyRyI/AAAAAAAAEsI/c3XCm2MiSVo/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Fold your bias strip right sides together(don't iron it, just fold) and sew with a 1/2" seam.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aJ4B6oJczHA/UnHFqCVajqI/AAAAAAAAEsM/r3qmtjUzpNc/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aJ4B6oJczHA/UnHFqCVajqI/AAAAAAAAEsM/r3qmtjUzpNc/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cut off most of your seam allowance. I used pinking shears.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IsYaxtoTKeU/UnHFqiF7ALI/AAAAAAAAEsY/p4jN6XjTprk/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IsYaxtoTKeU/UnHFqiF7ALI/AAAAAAAAEsY/p4jN6XjTprk/s320/photo+4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
put a safety pin on one of your ends to get ready to turn.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tCF3_3nmhrg/UnHH0V09CLI/AAAAAAAAEsk/x9xTTC1l1zE/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tCF3_3nmhrg/UnHH0V09CLI/AAAAAAAAEsk/x9xTTC1l1zE/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I know this picture is blurry, but you get the idea.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-86IsRaoZyQk/UnHH0Ra7IUI/AAAAAAAAEs8/84LA3v9ha9s/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-86IsRaoZyQk/UnHH0Ra7IUI/AAAAAAAAEs8/84LA3v9ha9s/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I bought this handy little tool at Joann's in the notions section to pull cording through.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1L9vHWG0tl8/UnHH0cKvvTI/AAAAAAAAEss/wUSm_z0Q5Eo/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1L9vHWG0tl8/UnHH0cKvvTI/AAAAAAAAEss/wUSm_z0Q5Eo/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stick it down the middle of the top of your cording and pull the little ring down to secure.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Kx9uIqzHJR0/UnHH0jRHBEI/AAAAAAAAEs4/22Z8qMD8Oi4/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Kx9uIqzHJR0/UnHH0jRHBEI/AAAAAAAAEs4/22Z8qMD8Oi4/s320/photo+4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Insert the cording into your fabric tube that you made.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AKTx_RLkbKQ/UnHJVGDpHWI/AAAAAAAAEtI/-bujq3gxiQE/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AKTx_RLkbKQ/UnHJVGDpHWI/AAAAAAAAEtI/-bujq3gxiQE/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
You are going to need to push and pull the fabric to get it all the way on the cording. It gets slippery with the cording tool. if you noticed, it has a small loop at the top. you can stick a pin through the loop(just feel for it)to help keep the fabric from slipping back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sGbNYkr-Y9k/UnHJVHj2O-I/AAAAAAAAEtQ/_irDdVZI-So/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sGbNYkr-Y9k/UnHJVHj2O-I/AAAAAAAAEtQ/_irDdVZI-So/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once you get both of your cording all the way made, slip them BOTH around the ring and fold in half. Secure with a rubber band.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3I1ZcF2d5EY/UnHJVPMYZlI/AAAAAAAAEtc/ed3LUsTmxRg/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3I1ZcF2d5EY/UnHJVPMYZlI/AAAAAAAAEtc/ed3LUsTmxRg/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cut 2 of you ends evenly and wrap thread around so they will be easier to insert onto the other ends.The other two ends need to be cut evenly as well. Also, you will need to peel back the fabric a bit and cut a chunk of the inner cording out-about 2X's as much as you wrapped the other 2 ends. NOTE: you can save this step for later if you are worried about the length of your strap.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RZ7DewI5JkM/UnHJVgSp8vI/AAAAAAAAEtg/uzwIwzPcU2M/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RZ7DewI5JkM/UnHJVgSp8vI/AAAAAAAAEtg/uzwIwzPcU2M/s320/photo+4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When you cut the cording out, it should look something like this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wLu-n-eJMgE/UnHMQV7SoNI/AAAAAAAAEto/F6PwKz-FF0I/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wLu-n-eJMgE/UnHMQV7SoNI/AAAAAAAAEto/F6PwKz-FF0I/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Begin to twist your strap. It will naturally want to twist. Try to keep the pieces going in the same flow all the way down.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gWU0Dk7PiGg/UnHMQJZZQVI/AAAAAAAAEuA/dSMW0zXxGJk/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gWU0Dk7PiGg/UnHMQJZZQVI/AAAAAAAAEuA/dSMW0zXxGJk/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Put another rubber band on the end. If you haven't trimmed and wrapped and clipped the cord ends yet, do it NOW.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6nJyDpkem3Q/UnHMQcztBkI/AAAAAAAAEt8/tphxAfDcVro/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6nJyDpkem3Q/UnHMQcztBkI/AAAAAAAAEt8/tphxAfDcVro/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fold in your 2 pieces that you cut a chunk of cording out of. At this point, if you don't have O rings that open, you are going to have to put them on and sew the pieces around them. I suggest using spring open o rings. I bought mine <a href="http://www.pacifictrimming.com/default/ring/metal-o-ring/spring-open-o-ring-150276.html">here</a>. That way, you won't have to deal with trying to stitch around them and can it them on later.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iiTBcTpS0k8/UnHMQmWbIeI/AAAAAAAAEuE/2E9HQ_jSSvI/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iiTBcTpS0k8/UnHMQmWbIeI/AAAAAAAAEuE/2E9HQ_jSSvI/s320/photo+5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Put your cord wrapped ends into the folded in ends. I already got my needle started in one end at this point. Then just stitch it shut.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fbVX-wR7eH8/UnHO3I4Z8dI/AAAAAAAAEuQ/R_acQAqqbkE/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fbVX-wR7eH8/UnHO3I4Z8dI/AAAAAAAAEuQ/R_acQAqqbkE/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At this point, you should have something like this. you can take the rings off for the next step as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AC2jquZkn7M/UnHO3Lm9ZJI/AAAAAAAAEuM/LtIQLK8X5Dg/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AC2jquZkn7M/UnHO3Lm9ZJI/AAAAAAAAEuM/LtIQLK8X5Dg/s320/photo+2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used jewelry wire 20 gauge.I like that they have colors! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4eM2zrrX1os/UnHO3YH_CzI/AAAAAAAAEuU/LT7nV0YQHJ4/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4eM2zrrX1os/UnHO3YH_CzI/AAAAAAAAEuU/LT7nV0YQHJ4/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
bend your wire down so you can cover it as you wrap.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AbUEji3Dhfk/UnHO3mNw9mI/AAAAAAAAEuk/J1AlXKMqaVE/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AbUEji3Dhfk/UnHO3mNw9mI/AAAAAAAAEuk/J1AlXKMqaVE/s320/photo+4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
keep wrapping leaving just enough room for your ring. once all the way down, cut off your rubber band.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WyPMzceLGyc/UnHO35OBRXI/AAAAAAAAEuc/SJabGS96iwQ/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WyPMzceLGyc/UnHO35OBRXI/AAAAAAAAEuc/SJabGS96iwQ/s320/photo+5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now feed the other end of the wire behind the wrapped wire. If it's tight and hard to feed through, you can use a big blunt upholstery needle. That's what i ended up doing on one end that was very tight! (I wish I would have gotten a picture.)Cut down your wire ends and hide as good as you can!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iZdahHUArH0/UnHSZ-UlhRI/AAAAAAAAEu8/BeebNeShvWs/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iZdahHUArH0/UnHSZ-UlhRI/AAAAAAAAEu8/BeebNeShvWs/s320/photo+1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You're DONE!</div>
<br />

Well, as I was picking out the fabric, I wanted a classic look that would look good this fall, so I went with this grey twill. I love twill for making bags! It is a great weight of fabric and I feel like it will stand up to much abuse and I think It might even hold a kitchen sink :) which I may or may not carry in my bags:))))))))))))))))) Anyway, grey and crimson are my old high school colors. Benjamain Bosse High School is where I graduated So I'm a Bosse Bulldog. This is the exact grey, so I thought hey, what a great name. It wasn't until I was almost finished with the bag before I realized how much the lines of the bag actually sorta kinda mimic a bulldog face. It was then I knew that is what the name should be.<br />

In preparing for this challenge, I came across a bag that I absolutely loved by Michael Kors. This particular bag goes for $995.00. No way would I ever pay that no matter how much I love MK. I pretty much recreated this bag. You can look <a href="http://www.michaelkors.com/p/Michael-Kors-Michael-Kors-Tonne-Pearlized-Hobo-hobo-bag/prod22760002___/?eItemId=prod22760002&cmCat=search&searchType=MAIN&icid=&rte=%252Fsearch.jhtml%253FN%253D0%2526Ntt%253Dhobo%252Bbag%2526_requestid%253D469712">here</a> and see how I did. I looked that bag over carefully and drafted a pattern.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LS_P51P6NDI/Ulxjxj8D2VI/AAAAAAAAEq4/aysutS3SpdE/s1600/photo2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LS_P51P6NDI/Ulxjxj8D2VI/AAAAAAAAEq4/aysutS3SpdE/s320/photo2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I'm a sucker for well made hardware and <a href="http://www.emmalinebags.com/">Emmaline Bags</a> added this new little blingy thing to her stock. I think it really polishes the bag!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1cTUR4wAnkw/UlxjyVoUNtI/AAAAAAAAErY/-IU-xwxPp7M/s1600/photo4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1cTUR4wAnkw/UlxjyVoUNtI/AAAAAAAAErY/-IU-xwxPp7M/s320/photo4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I didn't go with crimson for the interior. I does have pockets although it may be hard to tell with that print!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qLTzQNaTNF0/UlxjxlJFjCI/AAAAAAAAEq8/Z9xMFRenUWQ/s1600/photo+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qLTzQNaTNF0/UlxjxlJFjCI/AAAAAAAAEq8/Z9xMFRenUWQ/s320/photo+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the first time I have added purse feet. Love them!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LYVBiyqeoKU/UlxjzsiatrI/AAAAAAAAEro/qjv-d85SeJg/s1600/photo7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LYVBiyqeoKU/UlxjzsiatrI/AAAAAAAAEro/qjv-d85SeJg/s320/photo7.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The handle was a challenge to say the least. I tried a couple others that just weren't doing the bag justice. I wish I would have taken a photo, but they had hardware on them and , well, I cut the hardware off before I thought to take a photo. I did a simple flat strap with the same round studs I used as feet. It looked to limp for the bag. Next I tried a thick corded handle. I cut my fabric on the bias for it, but the handle wanted to flip one way on one side, and the other way on the other side. When I straightened out the arc for how it should sit, there were ripples all the way through. The only thing I can figure is I didn't cut on the TRUE bias. My last ditch attempt, I saw a ready made handle at Joanns I thought I could re-create. You can see it <a href="http://www.joann.com/everything-mary-black-microfiber-rolled-handles-w-silver-rings-2pk/10801967.html#q=handbag+ha">here</a>. But after I got it almost made, I decided it too, was to wimpy for this bag. Then my brain started storming with this one grey cord in my hand, I I thought, what if I double up and twist them together???? So I went for it! I think It was pretty perfect for this bag! And really, it was easier to make then it looks! So easy, I made a longer one in case I want to swap it out for a shoulder strap<br />

<br />
I know it looks kind of goofy with this long strap standing up, haha! Let me know if anyone is interested in a tutorial of this strap! It's looks complex, but really, it's not!!!<br />
<br />
So there you have it. I will be working on another variation of this bag in a more fun fabric for this challenge.I can't wait to see all of the bags at <a href="http://www.sewsweetness.com/2013/09/purse-palooza-2013.html">Purse Palooza 2013</a> with Sara from Sew Sweetness!<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-po1iFasWRxA/UkzCfTHkAGI/AAAAAAAAEoI/uhcl007t4FQ/s1600/photo2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-po1iFasWRxA/UkzCfTHkAGI/AAAAAAAAEoI/uhcl007t4FQ/s320/photo2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
My cousin and his wife are having their first baby. I'm so excited for them. They have been trying for awhile and started to worry. No worries, baby boy Conner is coming! Kristen had her shower last weekend. I called my aunt and said "what color and what themes" She said blue, grey, and airplanes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0mscanlE3GI/UkzCgMSODvI/AAAAAAAAEo8/-Iy4cX5BGCk/s1600/photo4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0mscanlE3GI/UkzCgMSODvI/AAAAAAAAEo8/-Iy4cX5BGCk/s320/photo4.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's kind of hard to tell. My photography took place right before dusk, so light was dimming, but look at this PERFECT fabric I found! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Gq6fT6hR44s/UkzCgUNX8HI/AAAAAAAAEos/OWtBqzYrDOM/s1600/photo5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Gq6fT6hR44s/UkzCgUNX8HI/AAAAAAAAEos/OWtBqzYrDOM/s320/photo5.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
See the airplanes?? It's Robert Kaufman Inkjet Designs by Marie Perkins.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And notice my quilt lable? I had them made up at Spoonflower!! I think I shared this on my last post, but it's been so long who would remember, haha!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also went with my go-to boy quilting- Circuit board(slightly wonky).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0mscanlE3GI/UkzCgMSODvI/AAAAAAAAEo8/-Iy4cX5BGCk/s1600/photo4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0mscanlE3GI/UkzCgMSODvI/AAAAAAAAEo8/-Iy4cX5BGCk/s320/photo4.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was being a bit frugal with the backing. The quilt turned out bigger that I thought but I had enough of this matching Kona solid Caribbean:)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H0R3HbHFnMs/UkzCg0NZxuI/AAAAAAAAEpE/1f_br4b73qU/s1600/photo7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H0R3HbHFnMs/UkzCg0NZxuI/AAAAAAAAEpE/1f_br4b73qU/s320/photo7.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I kept cut the cones pretty freeform. This resulted in a wider than I wanted and shorter than I wanted quilt, so I just made it a 47x47in square....or so I thought. when I was all done, binding and all, it actually measured 46.25x47. I thought it was a little off when I looked at it, but oh well, what is done is done!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is another project I am working on that I actually started on before the baby quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fzSh51s9y8w/UkzChGHqAtI/AAAAAAAAEpI/AoifzurWAp8/s1600/photo9.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fzSh51s9y8w/UkzChGHqAtI/AAAAAAAAEpI/AoifzurWAp8/s320/photo9.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's another Elizabeth Hartman quilt. You can find the tutorial <a href="http://www.sewmamasew.com/2013/06/dancing-queen-quilt-block/">here.</a> I actually started on this first but realize the baby shower was fast approaching so I had to switch gears.:( And NOW Purse Palooza is coming up so this quilt will have to wait again. you know I hate to have UFO's!!! But I haven't put it away so technically it's a WIP:) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well that's all I got today! I gotta get some work in on my purse. Stay tuned to hear about my inspiration for that one!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have been working on this quilt for a while! It is From Elizabeth Hartman's Craftsy class,Inspired Modern Quilting: 7 Small Projects With Big Style.. It's called Low Volume Tiles. That is How Elizabeth did hers, with Low Volume fabrics. I chose a more vibrant color!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HePXwhQHp-o/Ug4y2HWBHxI/AAAAAAAAEks/Um6aImBPTec/s1600/photo2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HePXwhQHp-o/Ug4y2HWBHxI/AAAAAAAAEks/Um6aImBPTec/s320/photo2.JPG" width="240" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div> Here is the back<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JcablgogovI/Ug4y4G2KRvI/AAAAAAAAEk0/NNDNpw-JQKk/s1600/photo3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JcablgogovI/Ug4y4G2KRvI/AAAAAAAAEk0/NNDNpw-JQKk/s320/photo3.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>I also tried a batting that I have never tried before, Fairfield Nature-Fil Batting which is a cotton/bamboo batting. I love the drape of this quilt upon using this batting! I didn't have any issues with it at all!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />

I like how it turned out!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IZyBukcTVJY/Ug42ylFT7cI/AAAAAAAAElc/UQN1dsDtQ3g/s1600/photo7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IZyBukcTVJY/Ug42ylFT7cI/AAAAAAAAElc/UQN1dsDtQ3g/s320/photo7.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>I used the quilt design I designed which I have decided to call sliced citrus! I think It turned out great!!<br />
<br />
I really liked this quilt pattern. I think I will call my quilt Concrete Jungle, because it looks like buildings all jammed together! What do you think?<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HNe8bS0uqT4/UdRHR64nuyI/AAAAAAAAEhg/wnVSPP9K_3M/s1600/IMG_4358.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HNe8bS0uqT4/UdRHR64nuyI/AAAAAAAAEhg/wnVSPP9K_3M/s320/IMG_4358.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I have had this design in my head for about a week now. I'm not sure why I haven't dived in and tried out this design. Sometimes I get stuck in my own head of what, when, and how to start a project. At first I wanted to create a quilt top to apply this design to. Then, I had a hard time settling on a quilt top design. I seem to stifle my creative process not because I have lost my "mojo". More like to much mojo. I get a series of ideas and then I torture myself with, what if I start this, and figure out I would have more fun if I would have started that? It's quite annoying. I annoy myself, lol!!<br />
<br />
I figured the best way to cure this overload, was to dive in and create a "maquette". Ha! I learned that word in Weeks Ringle's Craftsy class Designing modern quilts! I feel better knowing the design will work. It can be done. It can, however be a little tricky.<br />
<br />
I quilted the design in rows, BUT, the rows will be on a slight diagonal. I wish I had taken a picture of the first row or 2. I wanted the flower to have 5 petals. An uneven number,as you all know, is more pleasing to the eye. I think this uneven number accounts for the diagonal???<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hTwxVu5EBnI/UdRMuE19IhI/AAAAAAAAEiM/IKgJ-C9d0l8/s1600/IMG_4359.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hTwxVu5EBnI/UdRMuE19IhI/AAAAAAAAEiM/IKgJ-C9d0l8/s320/IMG_4359.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I love this combo of mint green fabric and peacock Isacord thread. The tread color really gives it a luminous look!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mbRDSP09uR8/UdRMsARL5II/AAAAAAAAEiI/JAx34I2-yhk/s1600/IMG_4352.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mbRDSP09uR8/UdRMsARL5II/AAAAAAAAEiI/JAx34I2-yhk/s320/IMG_4352.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lw5b65YsL6I/UdRMy92x4zI/AAAAAAAAEiY/IYOs0WpFtEU/s1600/IMG_4351.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lw5b65YsL6I/UdRMy92x4zI/AAAAAAAAEiY/IYOs0WpFtEU/s320/IMG_4351.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is the back so you can really see the design. This design requires a little bit of travel stitching, but it is not hard by any means. You do, however really have to think about where you are going to go next. But because the design is a serious of triangles, it is easy to stop at any time and plot out your next move.<br />
<br />
I love how the design turned out! I'm thinking of calling it Cherry Blossom. Does anyone have any better ideas? Let me know what you think! I can't wait to put this on a real quilt!!!Danih03http://www.blogger.com/profile/06038011201802847978noreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6608589772277647811.post-4983242374990903612013-06-22T12:17:00.000-07:002013-06-22T12:17:00.640-07:00My Sewing Machine Got A New Dress<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Diane Bohn <a href="http://fromblankpages.blogspot.com/">from blank pages...</a> has this great letter paper piecing pattern that I won on her blog. The contest was to give her an idea of what you would make (in a month or so) using the pattern. My idea was to make a sewing machine cover. I said I think I could finish in a month, but no promoises. She picked me anyway. It took 4 months. Sorry, Diane<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I made myself a purse for the summer. This is one big bag!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rmmG3MEmF4Q/UcXvvZBBPFI/AAAAAAAAEfE/oPR2iMNlNwM/s1600/IMG_4242.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rmmG3MEmF4Q/UcXvvZBBPFI/AAAAAAAAEfE/oPR2iMNlNwM/s320/IMG_4242.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the Craftsy class Design Your Own Handbag to make this bag. I'm pretty happy with it, although I wish I would have used white zippers instead. I had some that would have matched perfectly(off white metal zippers) but would have had to order the correct size. I would rather not try to re-size metal zippers. I think it would have been perfect, but I'm not always that patient;0</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Although I haven't blogged much I have been busy! And now, I'm itching to make a quilt. I have a new FMQ design I want to try out. I haven't really tried to stitch it out yet, just drawing it on paper. But I think it will look amazing on a quilt, so be on the lookout!!</div>

Here is my Bloggers Quilt festival Entry. This is a baby quilt measuring 39"X54". I always like to make my baby quilts a little big so there is room to grow through the toddler years.<br />
<br />
I used Elizabeth Hartman's free pattern <a href="http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2010/02/crazy-ninepatch-lattice-quilt.html">Crazy Nine-Patch Lattice</a>. I also used all DS prints. I don't normally use pre-cuts, but this would be a great pattern to use a layer cake with!!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OcYD1zZ6W_g/UZcA6Q_co5I/AAAAAAAAEXo/stRgPOjVrco/s1600/photo2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OcYD1zZ6W_g/UZcA6Q_co5I/AAAAAAAAEXo/stRgPOjVrco/s320/photo2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the back! This is the first time I have tried a curved corner on a quilt! How EASY!!!! And I love that the corners won't poke the baby. I think all future baby quilts will be made this way;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5_O9AywdIHA/UZcA6ThqYaI/AAAAAAAAEXg/6ZygkKx8DFs/s1600/photo3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5_O9AywdIHA/UZcA6ThqYaI/AAAAAAAAEXg/6ZygkKx8DFs/s320/photo3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I used <a href="http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.com/">Leah Day's</a> Circuit Board design. I quilted it quite big for maximum baby softness:)<br />
<br />
This is one of 2 quilts I made for my sister-in -law. May 16, 2013 (YESTERDAY)she gave birth to 2 bouncing baby girls, Emma and Lillian.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Aren't my new Nieces cute, hilarious, awesome?? These first pictures are showing a lot of personality!!!!Emma got this quilt, and Lillian got a simple brick pattern quilt with some AWESOME fabrics!!!!!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I like how this turned out!! The different colors are to resemble thread. I like how the quilting turned out!</div>

I this quilting design is to represent the zig-zag stitch. I like how it turned out(although the "o" was a challenge. There was a LOT of thread burying in this design:/ I wish I would have used black thread, but at the time, I thought this particular piece needed some color. Oh well. It's done now, and rip it I will NOT!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F0j4SghKuWs/UXr-5TNgiGI/AAAAAAAADeM/mi8jx73dJMA/s1600/photo1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F0j4SghKuWs/UXr-5TNgiGI/AAAAAAAADeM/mi8jx73dJMA/s320/photo1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This is the piece I have left to quilt. As you see I have ripped some here. I didn't like how the design was going. I have another idea here. Hope it works out! I am stumped on the rest of this piece. If you look back on the picture from my previous blog post you will see the whole(sorry I don't have a picture now) I have a lot of ideas but nothing to settle on. This is always the hardest for me.....picking a design!<br />
<br />
Thanks to all who participated in my giveaway and all of you who read my blog!<br />

</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I won a paper piecing ABC pattern from Diane Bohn<a href="http://fromblankpages.blogspot.com/">from blank pages.</a> This is my very first attempt at paper piecing:) Please don't get the level or t-squares out! It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be aside from the "s". But I clearly need practice!<br />
<br />
This piece is ready to be quilted. I know how I am going to quilt the letters. Any ideas on the rest?? There are a lot of bulky seams(probably due to my less than stellar paper-piecing skills). I'm kind of scared to get started on this one.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PAmwwN9_QDw/UXGzQAGG9KI/AAAAAAAADcA/Rx2shZDCHQw/s1600/photo1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PAmwwN9_QDw/UXGzQAGG9KI/AAAAAAAADcA/Rx2shZDCHQw/s320/photo1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This next piece is the same quilt block pattern I used for the Quiltcon Quilt Block Challenge, designed by me:) I am in love with that green color at the moment:D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rj5w0WpvSH4/UXGzQ4VKWYI/AAAAAAAADcg/ZqwImZsmiEs/s1600/photo3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rj5w0WpvSH4/UXGzQ4VKWYI/AAAAAAAADcg/ZqwImZsmiEs/s320/photo3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
This next piece is made using a slice and dice improve method. I love how it turned out. It can be a little tricky getting those lines to line up properly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iGHP6YVo0jI/UXGzQOikP5I/AAAAAAAADcE/6ccGG-iCAgI/s1600/photo2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iGHP6YVo0jI/UXGzQOikP5I/AAAAAAAADcE/6ccGG-iCAgI/s320/photo2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This final piece was a no-brainer how to quilt. I just followed the fabric, which I love, BTW!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xxOh0mgY_Z4/UXGzRPWK91I/AAAAAAAADck/UzT92eVW2yk/s1600/photo5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xxOh0mgY_Z4/UXGzRPWK91I/AAAAAAAADck/UzT92eVW2yk/s320/photo5.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I am making something specific here. Can you guess what? In order to win Diane's pattern, you had to tell her what you would make with it. She picked my answer:)))))) Now I just hope I live up to it! You never know if things look as good in reality and they do in your head!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
BONUS:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been blogging for about a year and a half. I have hit the 100 followers mark(currently 109 followers). YET, I have never had a giveaway. Well I think it's high time! So, I'm gonna give away some of my favorite things!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I2J2r_eu5gE/UXGzbu-UrtI/AAAAAAAADcs/82ukwhObV2s/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I2J2r_eu5gE/UXGzbu-UrtI/AAAAAAAADcs/82ukwhObV2s/s320/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Clover Wonder Clips-I love these and use them all the time! They are great for binding. No more pins sticking me!!</li>
<li>OLFA non-slip Frosted Ruler- I love this ruler because the frost makes it easier to see light and dark fabric no matter what color your cutting mat is. I also love the very thin lines on it to make more accurate cutting.</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>True Grips non-slip adhesive rings- This will help with the ruler. Although the ruler says non-slip, it does. If you add these rings, or even the dots in the rings, believe me, it ain't going anywhere!</li>
<li>Clover Seam Ripper- Clover has a few different styled ones. I love this because of the very small blade, and the handle is so comfortable</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Schmetz sharp needles- I just like these best.</li>
</ul>
So there you have it. These are a few of my favorite things. No one paid me to advertise their product, or sponsored me. These are just things I truly love.<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All you have to do to win is leave me a comment. You can comment on what you think my project is going to be, or how I should quilt my panels, or what ever else you have to say! I love comments, so comment away! There is no right or wrong answer. Mr. Random Generator will do the picking, as long as I get it to work. That will obviously be a new thing to try for me! To my international blogging friends, you are welcome to join in. Some of you have been the best blogging friends, so please ENTER!!!! I will pick a winner one week from today:)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm also linking up to <a href="http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.com/">Leah Day</a> today since I finally have some FMQing to show! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've been home all week with the kids for spring break. I managed to get one project done and another one almost there. This finished project is one I have had bouncing in my head for a while. It started with this for inspiration.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dUQNIukmI5c/UVgjTu1VJiI/AAAAAAAADbY/HjCz-zqV3yg/s1600/0.365x365.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dUQNIukmI5c/UVgjTu1VJiI/AAAAAAAADbY/HjCz-zqV3yg/s320/0.365x365.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Love this purse. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I was thinking, selvegded edges would make a cool redo of this purse. I think I might have enough selvedges to do this. The problem, the more I thought of it was that different fabrics have different widths of selvedges(which could look sloppy). If I had enough of the same size, it could look good. But I don't. So I can't let and idea go to waste. So here is what I did instead.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2JbprrULLk8/UVgjMpnvf0I/AAAAAAAADas/cuHlUUwsAYA/s1600/photo4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2JbprrULLk8/UVgjMpnvf0I/AAAAAAAADas/cuHlUUwsAYA/s1600/photo4.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PwVicHfc204/UVgjMP4bcXI/AAAAAAAADaY/ZwU9yIX5tno/s1600/photo2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PwVicHfc204/UVgjMP4bcXI/AAAAAAAADaY/ZwU9yIX5tno/s320/photo2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aL-R38TckiE/UVgjMWvjp4I/AAAAAAAADaU/JIc9lF4kJqY/s1600/photo3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aL-R38TckiE/UVgjMWvjp4I/AAAAAAAADaU/JIc9lF4kJqY/s1600/photo3.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I painstakingly made all of the fringe. It wasn't really that bad. I just made WOF strips and I got about 8 pieces of fringe out of each. But It did take quite a bit of fabric. There is 2 full yards on the exterior fabric/fringe alone! I only had a little piece left! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cut each strip 2 inches and double folded ending up with a half inch strip. I did an experiment and tried a one inch cut strip that would give 1/4 inchstrip, but decided I was to impatient for that(although I would look great)I fray checked all the ends so not to unravel on me:) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What do you think? To much? I'm kinda liking how it turned out. I'm just scared I will get it dirty if I use it, haha. (kinda defeats the purpose)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am really on a bag roll lately. I hope to get back to making some quilts soon, but for now, I have a few more bags to make. Well, I better, at least, since I already bought supplies.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have a great Easter!!!</div>

Front of Baby B Quilt. I love the rounded edges! So easy. I think I will do this for all baby quilts from now on!! I wish I would have had the forethought to round Baby A's quilt.</div>

Back of Baby B Quilt. This quilting pattern can be found <a href="http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2010/02/crazy-ninepatch-lattice-quilt.html">here. </a><br />

It's Elizabeth's Hartman's Crazy Nine Patch Lattice (free) pattern. <br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the quilting. Sorry it didn't show up in photos very well. It's a wonky circuit board variation. I kept the quilting big to ensure softness. It's about a 2" scale.<br />
<br />
In case you missed it, here is my baby A quilt.<br />
<br />

Just your easy-peasy-quick-show of your pretty prints-brick quilt. I kept the quilting just as easy with a simple stipple on about a 1 1/2-2" scale.<br />
<br />
These quilts are very different for twins. My sister-in-law is having fraternal twins, so I think it's fine. I get bored easily, so making identical quilts is not my thing! I posted them on FB so I wonder how long it will be until she see them??? She is not having a baby shower since this is kid 3 & 4 for her. So, there is no need for secrecy. But, she didn't know:)<br />
<br />
All that is left is to label these and give them to her. She is scheduled for a c-section May 20, so I got done in plenty of time!! </div>
