FMQ

So here is my Quilt Along Wednesday sample
I had some issues. My thread was breaking. When I finally got that lined out, I realized I had eyelashes all over the back!
Here's where frustration has set in. I have used just about all of my bag of tricks. So I'm thinking, what have I not tried?? THREAD! I was using Gutermann 100%cotton thread. I switched to Isacord. It was like the Heaven's opened up! Now, I will be honest, I haven't had any luck with Isacord at all. Every time I have tried to use it, I got huge loops on the back. But today, front and back were perfect! Here's a pic of the back with Isacord.
And the front is just as good! My stippling may not be great, but the stitches are alright. And why are sewing machines so fickle with FMQ? Why, why, WHY???? It's always a crap shoot. Maybe that's why I like it so much. It's a challenge getting your machine straight, and I love a challenge!

Ok, now for my 2012 Free-Motion Quilting Challenge practice samples
These are done on 8in blocks. I have an idea for a pretty cool one. I will let you know if it turns out. Welp, hope you likey=]

  2. I had the thread breaking problem too, and it seems to be resolved now that I've started leaving my feed dogs up. I definitely want to find some new threads to experiment with as well. Love the swirly leaves!

  3. I had to tell you how much I loved your leaves! I have been practicing but need to do more before I add a picture to my blog. I also plan on following Leah Day's Wednesday Quilt Along but I didn't do it this week since I have meandered in the past. I'm trying to increase my options in free motion quilting. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

    1. I've been FMQ since about last October. Stitching out the design is no problem for me, it's getting my machine to cooperate ! I seriously think I need it serviced.

  7. Your stitching looks great...love the leaves. I'm not up to machine challenges like you are! So far my machine has been cooperating with me which is good cuz me cooperating with me is bad enough to deal with! LOL!

    1. Thanks Cindy.I had more prob;ems again last night. I got some new info off the internet today about my vintage machine. I learned a few tweeks to try. I hope it works because I don't have any money to have it serviced at this time. So now I'm off to perform sewing machine surgery. Wish me luck.
