Here it is, and all it's problems. Doesn't look to bad. Could be better, if my FREAKIN MACHINE WOULD COOPERATE!
I had the skipping stitches and thread breaks again! Leah tried to diagnose my problem today. It came down to more than likely the timing is off. I have to agree. I have been thinking this was the issue, just hoping not. This will put me out of commission. I do have a cheapie yard sale find machine I bought for my daughter. I just don't have a FMQ foot for it. If you all would be so kind as to look at the photos below and tell me what you think.
this is 100% cotton gutermann thread. The stitch started to skip. I pulled it out a bit to see what was going on. It looks tangled to me???
Next, I rethreaded and tried again. I think I got about and inch and look
Next, I switched to Isacord. things went a little better. It didn't mess up until I got to the end. Here's a pic of that.
The stitch kinda grabbed tight from the bottom. There wasn't a nest or anything. But it appears the thread has wrapped around the top. I was hoping by posting some pics, somebody could see what was going on.
I have no idea what's wrong with your machine. Mine was acting up today too. Wish I could be more help. Your feathers look great!!
ReplyDeletewell, thank you! I think I am just going to get a new machine, but it will have to wait a couple of weeks....In the meantime, I will do what i can
DeleteIt doesn't look right, does it?
ReplyDeleteTest and see if you can sew regular straight lines with it with feed dogs up - it could just be you are pulling or pushing the fabric? I see this happen to me but only when FMQing and I think only when I go too fast. I'll try to pay attention more to this stuff so I can learn from it.
ReplyDeleteNice that you have an open toe quilting foot. I bought one from Leah but haven't done the modifications so haven't used it yet. Your feathers look great though so hope you get the machine question settled so you can continue!
And thank you for visiting my blog too!
: )
I have to leave the feed dogs up because on my old ass machine they won't go down. I haven't had any problems regular stitching either. Thanks so much for your input, though!
DeleteGo ahead and modify your foot. It only took me like 5 minutes. Getting the rubber band right took longer than bending the bar back. You do know Leah has a video on exactally how to do this right?
So frustrating to have issues with the machine. I hope you get it resolved but your feathers do look good...
ReplyDeleteyes, very friggen frustrating! And thanks on the feathers:)
DeleteI've had the problem from the second last picture quite a bit, where one strand of the thread breaks. For me this was solved with a bigger eyed needle and lower tension so that there was less friction on the thread. I haven't seen those tangles before though, hope you get it sorted out. Apart from that your feathers are looking good!
ReplyDeletehmmmm, I think I have tried almost every needle I have, but maybe I will try again...Thanks
DeleteI have no idea what could be the problem. Hopefully you can figure it out soon. Your feathers look great despite the problem!
ReplyDeleteHOPEFULLY!! I might have FMQ withdraws!!! And Thank you:)
